Fischer - Passacaille d’ Uranie

From “Musikalische Parnassus”, 1700. This nice piece approaches the harpsichord with orchestral traits, merging typical French and Italian textures. It’s the longest work of Fischer that we know of, and probably the most beautiful one; often being related to the descent of Orpheus to the Underworld. Actually, these amazing variations allow imagination to flow without restraints, so we can have many possibilities of expressions. This humble homemade recording was the one of many “moments musicaux” during the pandemic. I hope you enjoy it, and stay safe! Harpsichord by Danilo Colnaghi (Varese) after Johannes Goermans, 1764.
