How to Change a VW T5 T6 Diesel Fuel Filter — Don't Skip This Step

Changing the diesel fuel filter on a VW T5 or T6 is rarely done — and when it is, most people do it wrong. If you do not prime the filter before starting the engine you risk pushing air into the fuel injectors, which can cause damage. This video shows you the full process including the correct priming method using VCDS software. Works on VW T5, T5.1, T5.2, T6, Transporter, Multivan, Caravelle. Most 2.0 TDI engines with four-port filter. Do not start the engine until the filter is primed. Air in the injectors causes rough running and in some cases injector damage. Attach a temporary tube to the VM outlet into a container. Run the VCDS Transfer Fuel Pump test until clean diesel flows into the container — then reconnect VM and start the engine. First start every time. Change interval: every 100,000km minimum. This one had been in since 2015.
