Pyhrn-Priel Wildererweg - Bergauf Bericht

In southern Upper Austria lies the Pyhrn-Priel holiday region, known for its numerous hiking trails and protected natural landscape. One of these trails is the Poacher's Trail, where you can follow in the footsteps of legendary poachers. Alongside official hunting, poaching has a strong and vibrant tradition here. Although the poachers engaged in an illegal activity, they were quite popular with the common people. While hunters usually acted on behalf of the ruling class, poachers shared their spoils with the needy and were an important part of society during times of severe meat shortages. For this, they were often protected and supported by the villagers.
