In Japan’s Seto Inland Sea, there is a route known as a “cyclist’s paradise.” This route stretches for about 70 kilometers and connects Onomichi in Hiroshima with Imabari in Ehime. Along the way, it crosses multiple bridges and six small islands, where there are peaceful ocean views, quiet fishing villages, and nostalgic port towns filled with Showa-era atmosphere. This place is the famous 「Setouchi Shimanami Kaido」. Unlike ordinary travel, everything here moves at a much slower pace. We can ride bicycles while enjoying the sea breeze. Whenever we feel tired, we can stop to admire the ocean view or take a short break at a small shop on one of the islands. As the bridges and islands continue to alternate, the scenery slowly changes as well. This time, we will start from Onomichi and ride all the way to Imabari.
