CC subtitles available in English & Chinese In this video, we visit Ayagawa Town in Kagawa Prefecture, Japan, home to one of the country's most unique parks—a playground inspired by the Pokémon Slowpoke (ヤドン / Yadon). As we explore Kagawa, we walk from the quiet residential streets into the park, slowly taking in the peaceful atmosphere of this small town. Once inside, almost everything is designed around Slowpoke. From the playground equipment to the smallest decorations, the whole park is filled with this lovable Pokémon that always seems to be daydreaming. This is more than just a local park. It is one of several regional tourism projects created through a collaboration between Kagawa Prefecture and The Pokémon Company. So why was Slowpoke chosen to represent Kagawa? The reason is surprisingly simple: the Japanese name for Slowpoke, "Yadon (ヤドン)," sounds very similar to "Udon (うどん)," the famous noodle dish that Kagawa is known for. Combined with the prefecture's relatively low rainfall, Slowpoke has also come to symbolize good luck and gentle blessings. Beyond Slowpoke Park, there are many other Pokémon-themed regional projects across Japan, featuring Pokémon such as Chansey, Lapras, Oshawott, and more. Each area has its own special Pokémon ambassador. To continue our Slowpoke journey, we also stayed in the Slowpoke-themed room at Takamatsu Tokyu REI Hotel.
