Beast Claw - Daily Beating Mohg with Every Weapon (#160)

Daily Mohg playlist:    • Daily "Beating Mohg with Every Weapon" (We...   Item description: Beast Claw: "Weapon in the form of a carnivorous beast's vicious claws. Used to perform bestial slashing attacks uncanny to humankind. An imitation of the esoteric technique of the horned warriors. Those who carry this weapon wield it as though they have been possessed by a savage beast." Description: The second of the beast claw weapons to come from the DLC, this time being used in one hand instead of being powerstanced. Unlike the Red Bear's Claws, these ones feature an adjustable Ash of War. I opted to use Raging Beast as opposed to Savage Claws, as the former starts with a controllable evasive action into an attack, whereas Savage Claws locks its user into a protracted attack animation, thus requiring an opening for the attack to be effectively used. While I took several hits early on into the fight, there were also several instances where the low crouch of the attack start-up allow me to dodge attacks I would have otherwise gotten hit by, The motions of the beast claw attacks were very reminiscent of the Divine Beast Dancing Lions. The lion dancers of the Hornsent are inspired by Chinese culture, where humans would also don parts of a lion costume and move in sequence to puppet the costume. In the case of the hornsent, the dancers would be possessed with a divine fervor, or perhaps a bestial rage, that could cause them to even lash out at their own, as we see in this dialogue if the hornsent grandam is attacked while the Tarnished wears a Divine Beast Helm: "Sculpted Keeper, art thou now becalmed? Worry not, thy deeds were not thine own. Twas the thrashing rage of the sacred beast, spilling out from within thee, I am sure... Tis bound to occur, once in a while... See! I am just fine. No harm done at all." Music used: Shoi Miyazawa - Elden Ring OST - Mohg, Lord of Blood
