Most People Have No Idea What’s Still Sitting at Blythe Airport

We flew into Blythe Airport (KBLH) expecting a quiet fuel stop and discovered far more than we imagined, from WWII Army Airfield history and forgotten relics to military aircraft still operating overhead. Along the way, we fly over the mysterious Blythe Intaglios, spot F/A-18 Hornets and uncover traces of aviation history hidden in the California desert. And as if that wasn’t enough, we unexpectedly got to watch RAIDER36, a C-130 from Irene’s favorite squadron out of Miramar, stop by for touch-and-gos right after we landed. Safe to say… this quick fuel stop turned into something much more memorable.
