Concorde Tragedy That Sealed Its Fate | Air France 4590

On July 25, 2000, Air France Flight 4590, a Concorde supersonic airliner, departed from Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris bound for New York. During takeoff, the aircraft struck runway debris, triggering a chain of events that led to a fuel tank rupture, fire, engine power loss, and ultimately the crash near Gonesse, France. All 109 people on board and 4 people on the ground lost their lives. The tragedy remains the only fatal accident involving the Concorde and marked the beginning of the end for commercial supersonic passenger travel.
