ISRAEL - Sumak Ruins, Synagogue from Roman period חורבת סומק

Sumak Ruins Hidden deep in the southern part of Mount Carmel's forest is an archeological site with the ruins of an ancient Jewish settlement, going back to the Roman period some 2000 years ago. The Sumak ruins are just one of three such ancient Jewish settlements in the Carmel mountains. Found at the Sumak ruins are remains of a large Synagogue and some living quarters, to the north about 200 meters is a burial cave with the Jewish Menorah (6+1 branches) carved at its entrance, a wine press, water collecting cistern's and a ritual bath pool. (see    • ISRAEL - Sumak burial Cave from Roman Peri...  ). The Synagogue has some pillars still standing, on these pillars are strange vertical parallel lines carved into the stone, this is a mystery to me, if someone seeing this video has an idea just what those lines are for, do please leave a comment below, thank you.
