Over more than 40 years, we have found people with diabetes seems to have more challenge learning tai chi. They seem to be less coordinated. We think that might be due to the childhood experience especially with sport and exercise at the school… if you are not talented, other kids may make fun of you, or you might became conscious of it. They you might unconsciously avoid group sport or exercises. In that case, the less you do, the less co-ordinated you become, then the vicious circle started, the less you do the less co-ordinated you became and that in turn make you participate less with any exercise. Of course, the way to correct it is to do tai chi because it is so useful for health and co-ordination. I would like to suggest to anyone who wishes to use this program to prevent diabetes or help manage the condition, please make a commitment to stay with the program for at least 3 months, and to practice it almost every day. We designed this program to be enjoyable and easy to learn. It is non-competitive, you don’t have to compare with anyone, it is all for you. Tai chi is intrinsically enjoyable, but it is different from other activities so you would need a length of time to get used to it and to gain benefits and enjoyment. 3 months is a good time to give it a good try, and 6 months is even better. Studies have shown Tai Chi for Health can bring significant health benefits in two months, and in 6 months, not only you would really understand and enjoy the practice, it can help you, in the most natural way, to develop more healthy habits and stop bad habits. So welcome to the beautiful world of Tai Chi for Health! You can learn this program whether you have Diabetes or not. Tai Chi is proven to improve almost all aspects of health, including relieving stress, improving immunity to fight infections and prevention cancer. Very importantly it can improve your inner strength, whatever you wish to pursue, it can make it more likely to be successful. That is why millions of people around the world are enjoying my Tai Chi for Health program. Tai chi is an art of doing, the best way to gain health benefits is to do it, you can be sure it works because over 30 medical studies have proven how my programs are able to bring many health benefits. At first you may find tai chi different from other exercises or activities. For example we move slowly and mindfully, and instead of in straight line, we move in gentle curve. There are good reasons for moving this way, because tai chi was created based on the law of nature, so moving in tai chi way is natural and enjoyable once you got used to it. It may take some time for you to get used to it. Please allow yourself time. A good way to learn is to set aside a regular time every day to practice my lessons. Around half an hour would work well, an hour, would be even better. Ideally complete one lesson in one session, then spend next three days to practice them until you are so familiar that you can do the movements by memory, then move on to the next lessons. Below is a proposed day to day schedule. Do feel free to adjust for your own situation, if in doubt, please check with your health professional. Be sure to follow my advice inside the online lessons or instructional DVDs, consult your health professional if you have any doubt about safety. Remember to work well within your comfort zone, visualise anything you cannot do within comfort.
