John Deere corn sheller history - made up on the fly -

Long boring video for those who like John Deere (and other) one-hole corn shellers. Low quality and I missed a couple along the walk between buildings to show you them all. Please don't LIKE or SUBSCRIBE because of this video, it's just going to encourage me to make more like this. First sheller is similar to what is pictured in this article but wood is more natural in color than the painted version here: http://www.farmcollector.com/equipmen... Second sheller is second oldest restored john deere version I show. note the Marseilles "works" lettering. Third Sheller is Patented December 2D 1919, so I assume the newest wooden sheller I have. Fourth sheller is the oldest "John Deere" wood version and should have been right after the Diamond sheller in this video, note the Marseilles "Co." or company, not "Works" so before JD bought them, maybe? the 5th sheller has a glaring mistake on my part, see if you can pick it out. this is an unrestored 1-A sheller. 6th sheller is a galvanized 1-B likely dating it to about 1936 when they started making them? note the leaping deere logo on the cast top. it's similar to what is shown in the JD article here if you look closely: https://www.deere.com/en_US/docs/Corp... 7th sheller switches back to an earlier restored 1-A then I run thru a couple non-deere shellers, McCormick, New Idea (round decal compared to triangular decal shown in image in one article from farm collector magazine), and a Burrall cast iron sheller. Short walk to the newest 1-B I have with electric motor. patent information is on the flywheel side, only time I've seen that location for the patent info. There seems to be a lot of variation along the way from Jan 28 1873 patent thru john deere buying them in 1915 and up thru the 1950's when they stopped making the 1-B. if you are restoring one, do whatever you want, I'm sure it was that way at least one time in the 50 years of production, right? I finish up with the first one I bought and restored. it's got a cart which I made along with a flat belt pulley and a corn tipper for making seed corn. if all goes well, the three dumb schmucks may be shelling corn this fall with this one to feed the chickens... keep your fingers crossed for time to be available.
