Kaçkarların Eşsiz Dağ Geçidi Kızılgedik' e Tırmanış Macerası
We are in the Kaçkar Mountains again. We landed at Rize-Artvin Airport with the 01:35 AM flight from Istanbul. From the Pazar district, we took a minibus to Ayder and started our hike towards the 12km-long Avusor Plateau from there. Once we reached the plateau, we were guests at the house of our dear friend Alican İsmailoğlu. After a delicious meal and some conversation, we set off towards Kızılgedik. It was already raining when we started our hike. Although we initially aimed to reach Kızılgedik, the intense fog and rain forced us to set up our camp in a flat area. That night, we had a wonderful and long sleep. When we woke up in the morning, we were greeted by beautiful weather. We laid out everything that got wet the previous day on the rocks to dry. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast and coffee. During breakfast, we discussed the route after Kızılgedik, which was quite long. After spending a night at the pass, our plan was to head towards Pişenkara Valley on the Artvin side to set up our second camp, then reach Karagöl on the west side of Satıbe ridge, and establish our third camp. After spending another night there, we would walk to Barhal and then reach Yusufeli by vehicle to take a bus back to Rize. It was a challenging route, so without wasting any more time, we set off towards the targeted mountain pass. Moreover, a difficult ascent awaited us. Instead of descending the route we struggled with back in 2011, we decided to ascend it in reverse this time. As we expected, the ascent was tough, but we made it to the pass and set up our tent. Just as we got inside the tent, it started raining. However, we were happy because we didn't get wet and successfully reached our goal of setting up camp. Now, we could cook our tarhana soup, make some noise, and then have a good night's sleep. Thank you for watching us. Your support makes us very happy. Therefore, don't forget to subscribe, ring the bell, and like our video.
