Kaçkar Dağlarında Günbatımında Bulut Denizini Görüntüledik
In the previous section ( • Kaçkarların Eşsiz Dağ Geçidi Kızılgedik' e... ), during the first phase of our expedition, we had established our camp at an altitude of 3100 meters on the Kızıl Gedik Mountain Pass, locally known as Kırmızı Gedik, passing through the enchanting panorama of Avisor Plateau. Initially, our plan was to spend a night in this majestic pass and set out with the first light of the following morning, crossing the Pişenkara Valley, reaching Satıbe Ridge, and then establishing our second camp near the hidden Karagöl to its west. We were planning to spend a night in the magical atmosphere of Karagöl and then continue our journey, eventually stepping into Barhal. From there, we would reach Yusufeli by vehicle, completing our unforgettable experience and returning to Rize by bus. However, all of these thoughts unexpectedly changed with the desire to witness the dance of clouds at the summit of Kızıl Gedik. We decided to forgo setting out on that splendid day's morning and instead chose to meet the clouds in the captivating colors of the evening. It was at that moment that the flexibility of our expedition plan and our respect for nature emerged as a reflection. Sitting inside our tent at the campsite, we extensively discussed how aptly we had made this unforeseen decision. With this sensitivity to the fleeting beauty offered by nature, we shared the belief that this moment, gained by altering our plans, would become one of the most precious gems in our memories. As the night advanced, under the starlight, we shared the enchantment of that moment, once again realizing the value of nature and friendship. It was time for the journey back. The next morning, we got up early and set off towards Avisor. However, an unfortunate incident occurred, and I ended up on the ground in pain after spraining my left ankle. Due to the dense fog, initially, we thought we were still far from the plateau. But after a short while, we realized that we were in fact at the Avisor plateau. Thankfully, this incident happened during the almost final moments of our hike. We were saddened, of course, but we also felt a hidden joy knowing that this mishap didn't occur in the mountains.
