A Guided Walk Through the Historic Village of Hurstpierpoint: A Tour with the late Ian Nelson
The Late Ian Nelson takes you on a guided walk through the historic Village of Hurstpierpoint circa 2014. Ian Nelson had a prodigious store of knowledge about Hurstpierpoint. He contributed to several books, one of which ‘Hurstpierpoint – Kind and Charitable’ edited by him for the Hurst History and Study Group in 2001 described the village as we have experienced it during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Another, ‘Who’s been living in my house?’ detailed the occupiers of the houses in the High Street in Victorian Times. It was on these two books that Ian based his historic walks around Hurstpierpoint for very many years, long before the Festival was thought of. When he started the walks, which were the events which sold out first of anything, he amazed us all with what was stored in his memory. Ian died on 4 May 2020 at the age of 95, after a short illness. He was still striding up and down the High Street until the last couple of weeks. This event is part of the Virtual Hurst Festival 2020 – an imaginative online version of Hurst Festival, 12th - 27th September this year, bringing you our usual high standard of over 40 booked events and acts – via our website, linking you to YouTube, that you can stream to your TV and straight into your home!
