Here are my top ten tips to save money in the kitchen. 1) Cooking from Scratch. 2) Buy second hand/thrifted items such as: Cups, Plates, Storage Jars, Glasses including Furniture such as Dresser, Table, Chairs. 3) Buy Quality not Quantity. Cheaper items don't last. Look at the cost per use. I bought an expensive coffee machine as I use it every day. I have had it 5 years, so to me it was worth every penny. 4) If buying new look for discounts, vouchers, use cash back apps. 5) Use smaller oven to save energy and time. Cook multiple items at the same time, if you can. 6) Use Air Fryer - cheap to run, quick to cook. I use a small pyrex dish to put the food in so its less time/effort to clean the air fryer itself. 7) Use Slow Cooker- set it and forget it. Great to leave overnight or while at work. Great for making stocks and yoghurt not just stews/casseroles. 8) Don't use a dish washer as expensive to buy and run, dishwasher tablets are expensive too. I've never had one. I wash by hand. I leave dishes overnight to soak so its easier to clean too. 9) Don't use a tumble dryer as expensive to buy and very expensive to run in the UK. Plus dryer sheets or balls are expensive to buy. 10) I have bread maker machine I use to bake bread every week. So much tastier and cheaper than store bought bread. Plus I bake stodgy cakes these take an hour to cook - so much cheaper to use than an oven/stove. Great for the winter with lashings of custard. BONUS TIP: Reuse items such as food/sauce jars to store other items in. I store my dog treats in my for example.
