My Grandma's EXTREME Frugality Moneysaving from a time gone by. Make Do and Mend & Living on Less
My Grandma was born in Goole, East Yorkshire in 1919, just after World War I and brought up four children almost singlehandedly during World War II. She was very poor and very hardworking, becoming 'a frowned upon single mother' when her husband walked out in the 1950s. She worked during the day as a meter maid and raised her four children on a pittance. They never went to bed without warm words and a hug. She must have had many sleepless nights juggling work, children and paying the bills. Yet still never lost her humanity, kindness and wonderful sense of humour. As a child, I spent a lot of time with my 'Nana' as we lived with her for quite a few years. I always marvelled at her ability to make something out of nothing, stretch things out, make do and mend whilst always keeping one eye on her budget. She was generous in love, time and affection and always prudent with money. The video is inspired by her tips, ideas and those of a similar ilk. Come and take a frugal walk down memory lane...
