Hello everyone! After the southern Thailand Grand Loop ended at the end of last year, I immediately planned my motorcycle travel itinerary for this year. My first plan was to go to northeastern Thailand or Laos, but this route would take at least a month. However, I was quite busy in the first half of the year, so I arranged it for the second half. So in April this year, I took a not-so-far but particularly interesting motorcycle trip: (At the end of the year, you can still see the Red Lotus Lake in Wulong.) Starting from Kuala Lumpur, travel along the longitudinal highway in the mountainous area of central West Malaysia, pass through Bentong, Raub, and Kamo Seng, reach Jiri, cross the Bukit Huat checkpoint to enter Thailand, and then go on a motorcycle tour in Taogong (Nalatiwa), Petaling Jaya, and Yala, which were once dominated by Islamic extremist forces in the three southern Thai provinces. After that, return to Songkhla Hat Yai and then back to Malaysia. Spend a few days on a motorcycle tour in Perlis and Kedah. Finally, return to Penang. This motorcycle trip not only fills in the blanks for several provinces and cities in West Malaysia that I didn't visit during my 2023 cycling tour around Malaysia, but also explores the three southern Thai provinces that I have always been curious about but a little scared of. These three places, where Islamic extremist forces and Malay separatists once ran rampant, are now suitable for travel and motorcycle Tours? I want to go and have a look myself. For this motorcycle trip, I will categorize the parts within Malaysia under the "Cycling Around Malaysia" series, while the three Islamic provinces in southern Thailand will be included in the "Motorcycle Travel Southeast Asia" playlist. OK, let's get back to the point. On March 16, 2026, I set off from a friend's home in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur, and drove to the first stop of this trip: Bukit Tinggi, at the border between Kuala Lumpur and Pahang. I visited the Four-Faced Buddha on the mountain top and prayed for a safe journey. Then we arrived in Bentong, Pahang, where we spent the night in a city rich in Chinese culture and with delicious and affordable food. The next day, we visited the famous God of Wealth in Bentong.
