Irish Railways: Belfast to Tuam 1990

Belfast to Tuam…and onwards to Westport. Footage of the Western Enterprise railtour captured at Tuam Railway Station on 7th April 1990. The railtour was organised by Southern Railtours, a prominent railtour organiser at the time. The tour arrived into Tuam at 13:53, 18 mins behind schedule having set out from Belfast Central 06:50, departing Dublin Connolly at 09:55 and heading West via Mullingar and Moate before crossing the Shannon at Athlone and onwards to Athenry. Arrival into Westport was 15:34…before returning east for Belfast via Castlerea and Portarlington, with a scheduled arrival into Belfast Central at 22:15 that night. Scenes at Tuam include tour participants enjoying a 20 min visit through the Westrail depot with E428 ticking over outside the loco shed, No.90 within under going the final stage of its comprehensive rebuild, while exCSET Ruston No.3 is in operation further up the yard.
