Day 2 Central Arnhem Road | Wild Donkeys | Mainoru Store| Stunning Swimming Hole | WILD Outback NT

In this episode, we leave behind the absolutely exquisite Jurassic Park Lookout, also known as The Escarpment and wow what a spot 🧡🧡 It honestly felt like we were standing in the middle of a movie scene with those incredible sweeping views over ancient stone country. Hard to believe places like this still exist, untouched, rugged and full of raw beauty. Back on the red dirt we continued our journey along the Central Arnhem Road. The drive was everything we love, remote, dusty and filled with those ever changing landscapes that keep you staring out the window in awe. From rocky ridges to pockets of lush tropical bushland, this road is full of so many surprises. Just before reaching Mainoru Store we came across a pack of wild donkeys casually standing in our way not letting us past until we said hello. Sharyn was in absolute heaven 🫏 They just stood there like they owned the road, curious as ever giving us one of those unexpected and unforgettable outback moments we will never forget. When we arrived at Mainoru Store, we set up camp and took a wander around to soak up the lush, tropical surroundings. It’s such a beautiful spot, a real little oasis in the middle of nowhere. We tried our luck at a nearby river crossing with the fishing rods hopeful for some dinner, but came back empty handed sadly. Still it was all part of the fun. To top off the day we headed to the local watering hole, just a short stroll from the campgrounds for a refreshing swim. Surrounded by palms and greenery, it honestly felt like something out of a dream. The water was beautiful, but we did notice a few bubbles coming up around us... pretty sure there were some friendly locals hanging out down below 😬🐊 We hope you enjoy this episode and we’ll see you in the next one, Day 3 on the Central Arnhem Road at another jaw dropping free camp.
