In the community of Jesús Coronado, part of Real de Catorce, we ventured into an abandoned mine that closed over 40 years ago. Guided by Don Brígido Ibarra, we explored a vast labyrinth of tunnels excavated by a former mining company, where even today some miners search for minerals that attract tourists visiting Real de Catorce. Inside the mine, you can see people entering with donkeys and even motorcycles, something that seems quite risky given the narrowness of the tunnels and their walls. The experience is intense, dark, and steeped in history. To top it all off, Don Brígido invited us to lunch in his kitchen, which, surprisingly, is a cave, but it has everything necessary to prepare and share a meal.
