N&W No. 611 moves across Central Virginia. -Gordonsville -Trevilian Station -Louisa _June 22, 2026

Arrival of the Norfolk & Western No. 611 "Queen of Steam" at Gordonsville, Va. Passenger cars decoupled from 611 that were used on an excursion trip from Staunton, Va. Historic hotel and switching station on the "Y" in Gordonsville. Movement on the Y. Other engines and passenger cars, most noticeably the California Zephyr observation car. Exchange Hotel which was used as a hospital by the CSA during the U.S. Civil War. 611 moves in reverse to Louisa Courthouse, Va Passes the old and abandoned Trevilian Station which was the location of the largest all calvary engagement of the U.S. Civil War which involved George Armstrong Custer. The battle is also known as Custer's first "last stand". Finally, the 611 arrives at the newly refurbished Louisa Station and is moved to a railyard nearby for safe keeping. All of this to celebrate America 250. The 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the birth of the United States of America. Cue the National Anthem. The N&W 611 was built in 1950 and has beautiful streamlining.
