Idaho's Salmon River - Fly fishing for Cutbow, Cutthroat, Bull Trout and Rocky Mountain Whitefish

In June and July 2023, Sue and I traveled over 5,300 miles in our motorhome from Ohio to visit the Mountain West. We traveled through ten states including Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, and North Dakota. We visited several National Parks, National Monuments, and State Parks with the pinnacle of our trip being Glacier National Park in northwest Montana. This video provides the highlights of the Salmon River while visiting Idaho One our favorite activities on our two month trip to the Mountain West was Fly Fishing the Salmon River in Stanley, Idaho. This was the first time fly fishing for Dave, and Sue was the videographer. Dave caught more than a dozen fish including Cutbow Trout, Cutthroat Trout, and Rocky Mountain Whitefish. The fishing expedition was eight miles long and was a 4+ hour guided trip. This stretch of the Salmon River is also one of the best stretches of whitewater rafting on the Salmon River. A few days after the fishing trip, Sue and I left the Sawtooth Mountains and Stanley, Idaho area. We drove 144 miles along the Salmon River on Idaho 75 and then U.S. 93, also know as the Salmon River Scenic Byway. We've included photos from various points on this beautiful drive. At the end of the 144 miles we arrived at North Fork, Idaho where we stayed for two nights at the River's Fork Lodge and RV Park. Our journey up the the Salmon River ended here as the river heads west to the Pacific Ocean while our drive continued north to Glacier National Park.
