In this video, our literature teacher discusses some analytical points from the third chapter of Part 2 of Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert. This third chapter is particularly rich in meaning. We will focus on the choice of the first name for Charles and Emma Bovary's daughter. Emma first reviews all the first names with an Italian ending for Emma (names ending in an a). Italy is romantic in clichés, and Emma is a cliché.
