The evacuation of the Lützerath location continued in the night of January 12, 2023. Overall, the night was quiet - there were no special incidents in this area. In Aachen, damage to property at party offices of the CDU and Alliance 90 / Greens resulted in crimes of resonance. The state protection of the Aachen police has started the investigation. During the day, police forces were repeatedly thrown at with stones and firecrackers. A police officer was hit by a firecracker and injured her leg. Another police officer suffered blast trauma. About 200 people left a registered meeting in the Keyenberg area via farm roads and fields in the direction of Lützerath and the edge of the opencast mine. Some of this group of people was stopped and surrounded by the police at the Lützerath fence. The people were asked to leave the security area. Some people had to be carried out of the area by police forces. Among other things, the climate activist Luisa Neubauer in this group. A civilian car parked in Keyenberg was set on fire by unknown perpetrators. The vehicle was clearly identifiable by a blue light on the roof. According to the current status of the investigation, the police assume arson. During the day, several houses in Lützerath were completely cleared and approved for demolition by the mining operator. A large number of tree and floor structures were also cleared and demolished immediately afterwards. Several activists got stuck in the structures and had to be released by the police. In the afternoon, access to an underground floor structure was found near a building. The police are in contact with the people in the structure, which has a fresh air supply. Communications officers from the Aachen police are in conversation with the people and are trying to convince them to give up their resistance and leave the danger area. At the Jackerath junction, six people tried to get stuck on the road. This was prevented by police officers who happened to be on site. Over 300 people left Lützerath by evening. Approximately 70 people were released from the local situation after their identity had been verified. A total of six people were charged with resisting law enforcement officials and damaging property. Since the deployment began on January 11, 2023, applications for long-term custody have been made for three people who have been taken into custody. All applications were confirmed by the responsible judge. In the meantime, two of these people gave their personal details and were released from custody. A total of eleven emergency services were injured without external influence, but nine were still able to work. Two police officers were unable to continue their duty. Five police officers were injured by external influence, but were able to remain on duty. One person on the part of the occupier scene was slightly injured. Overall, the evacuation measures by the police on Thursday went according to plan. The emergency services were well prepared for the resistance described.
