Police Launch Major Alert for Man with Axe in Schwäbisch Gmünd - Manhunt Throughout the City with Baden-Württemberg Special Operations Unit, Helicopters, and Heavily Armed Police - Wanted Man's Apartment Stormed (Live on Tape) Major police operation on Saturday morning in Schwäbisch Gmünd: Around 8:30 a.m., a caller reported to the police an aggressively shouting man with an axe running through the city center. Several police patrols were then dispatched to search for the individual. At the same time, the public was warned and asked for any information. Around 11:30 a.m., a resident found the man's axe on Buchstrasse. However, there was still no trace of the wanted man. Shortly afterward, a police special operations unit stormed the apartment of the now-identified man on Bismarckstrasse. No one was home when the heavily armed officers entered the apartment. Police have now expanded their search to the entire city. A police helicopter is also being used. The search was successful: at approximately 11:45 a.m., police arrested the man, who is about 40 years old, on Caspar-Vogt-Straße. His motives are currently unknown.
