Lc 12, 32-48 “¿Dices esta parábola sólo por nosotros o por todos?”

At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: "Do not be afraid, my little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the Kingdom. Sell your possessions and give alms. Get yourselves purses that will not be destroyed, and store up for yourselves treasure in heaven that never ends, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Be ready, with your tunic on and your lamps burning. Be like the servants who wait for their master to return from the wedding, so that they can open the door to him as soon as he comes and knocks. Blessed are those whom their master finds watching when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will roll up his tunic and have them recline at table, and he himself will wait on them. And if he comes at midnight or early in the morning and finds them watching, blessed are they. Consider this: If a householder knew at what hour the thief was coming, he would keep watch and not let anyone break in. break into your house. So you also must be ready, for the Son of Man will come at an hour you least expect.'' Then Peter asked Jesus, "Are you telling this parable for us alone, or for everyone?" The Lord replied, "Suppose a steward, whom his master has appointed over his household to distribute their food at the proper time, behaves faithfully and prudently. Blessed is that servant if his master finds him doing his duty when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. But if that servant thinks, 'My master will be a long time in coming,' and begins to mistreat the male and female servants, to eat, drink, and get drunk, on one of those days his master will come and punish him severely and make him suffer the fate that falls on him as the disloyal men. The servant who, knowing his master's will, has not prepared or done what he ought to have done, will receive many stripes; but the one who, not knowing it, has done something worthy of punishment, will receive few. To whom much is given, much will be required, and to whom much is entrusted, much more will be required.
