ELECTRIC ANNIVERSARY: One Year of Route 337 TUK Operation: Tribute to GoAhead Enviro400s

On the 24th of May 2025, London bus route 337 was changed. The 337 had been operated by Go-Ahead, London General since 2011. Transport UK took over the route at 5:25am on the morning of the 24th of May. These buses, new in 2011, were used on the route for 14 years. 11 buses were ordered for the 337, these being E151-E162. These buses were given SN11 plate registrations, and lasted in service until 2026. The variety of buses used on the 337 vanished as soon as TUK took over. Since TUK began running the route, the 337 has only used one type of bus - Electroliners. Electroliners used on the 337 include pre-facelift "Stealth" designs from 2023, Around 37 Vision Zero StreetDeck Electroliners registered in 2024, And around 17 Vision Zero Electroliners registered in 2025. The 337 has only seen one rare working under TUK, in the form of an Electroliner from 2022. 3023 (LV72BZS) worked the route on the 18th of May 2025 as a temporary transfer. The 337 started running from Stockwell when Go-Ahead took over the route from Arriva. An Enviro400 Hybrid was introduced alongside the diesel E400s in 2015. The route was then transferred to Putney (AF) garage in July 2016. This was to compensate for the loss of route 85 to London United. The single Enviro400 Hybrid being replaced by a diesel Gemini 2 at this time. At Putney (AF), the 337 used various hybrids such as Eclipses, Enviro400 MMCs and EvoSetis. On the 1st of July 2023, the 337 transferred back to Stockwell (SW) garage. This was to make room for route 265 at Putney (AF). The route's running numbers were changed to SW341+. These running numbers have since been reused for routes 209 and 378. The 337's driver changeover point remained at Putney after the transfer to Stockwell. During 2023, the 337's allocation changed. E151 (SN11BTZ) had transferred out of Stockwell in 2015, Leaving the 337 with 10 allocated SN11 plate Enviro400s. This was further reduced when the newest of the batch (E161 and E162) left Stockwell in January 2024. E161 and 162 transferred to Merton (AL) garage for route 200. These two buses would become the last 337 Enviro400s to survive in TfL service. After the loss of the 337 to Transport UK, most SN11 plate E400s transferred to Bexleyheath (BX). They were used to replace ageing LX09 plate Enviro400 Tridents. The last SN11s at Bexleyheath were used in Autumn 2025. And were transferred to Plymouth Citybus. E161 and E162 were used at Merton and Goat Road garages in 2025. They were then transferred to Peckham (PM) as refurbishment floats for route 337. E161 was then sent to Orpington (MB) while E162 was moved to Morden Wharf (MG). These two buses were then reunited at Henley Road (DS) garage, Where they were used on routes 330 and 474 until withdrawal. E161 was last used on the 474 on the 25th of January 2026. Both E161 and E162 have since joined the rest of the 337's batch in Plymouth. As mentioned earlier, the 337 runs from Clapham Junction to Richmond. The route starts at The Northcote in Clapham before serving Clapham Junction Station. It then serves East Hill, Wandsworth Town Hall (for Southside), Wandsworth Police Station, East Putney Station, Putney Station (for Putney High Street), Putney Leisure Centre, Queens Road (for Barnes Station), Priory Lane, Kings Road, Richmond Park Road, East Sheen (for Mortlake Station), Temple Sheen Road, Sheen Court, Manor Road, North Sheen Station, Sheen Road, Church Street, Eton Street and Richmond Bus Station (and George Street towards Clapham Junction). #bus #tfl #buses
