A female student suddenly screamed hysterically inside the store after allegedly being sexually harassed by a man who was later revealed to be a lecturer. The incident occurred around 11:00 PM WITA at a minimarket on Jalan Jenderal Ahmad Yani, Parepare City. The beautiful student, identified as MF, 21, had come to the store with her child to buy some household necessities. Like other customers, MF walked through the shelves. When she was about to select a product, she squatted in front of the shelf to look at the items at the bottom. However, that's when the unpleasant incident occurred. Unbeknownst to the victim, a man identified as S approached from behind. The 43-year-old man allegedly intentionally pressed his genitals against her body. This action reportedly occurred twice. MF, who was initially focused on selecting items, immediately realized something was wrong behind her. She was immediately shocked and screamed hysterically inside the minimarket. The scream caused a commotion in the store. Several employees and other customers immediately turned to the victim. In a panic, the victim immediately sought help from a minimarket employee who was present. The alleged sexual harassment was then reported to the police. The Head of the Parepare Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Muh Agus Purwanto, confirmed the report. According to him, the perpetrator allegedly took advantage of the situation when the victim was distracted while shopping. "Initially, the victim was picking up items from the minimarket shelves. That's when the perpetrator came from behind and touched his genitals to the victim's backside," said AKP Agus on Wednesday, March 4. After receiving the report, the police immediately launched an investigation to identify the perpetrator. The search led to a man with the initials S. The Parepare Police Mobile Brigade Team then proceeded to the perpetrator's residence in the Kilometer 6 area, Lapadde Village, Parepare City. The arrest was made on Monday, March 2, at around 11:30 a.m. WITA (Central Indonesian Time). After his arrest, the perpetrator was immediately taken to the Parepare Police Headquarters for further questioning. During the initial questioning, S reportedly confessed to his actions. Police also revealed that the man works as a lecturer at a university in Parepare City. This case immediately attracted attention after a video recording of the incident circulated widely on social media. Many netizens condemned the perpetrator's actions, which they considered highly inappropriate, especially for someone working as an educator. Investigators are currently conducting an intensive examination of the perpetrator. Police have charged him with sexual harassment under applicable law. The police also reminded the public not to hesitate to report any incidents they experience or witness in public spaces.
