Labor Day Fun - A Psy-Ko 572XP w/ Stump Trickery on a Tight Downhill Shot

Yah,,, I did take my Saw-Weet time getting this tree on the ground. Definitely some "fuss" on the undercut. The rift crack was an unknown until the tree was on the ground too. Sometimes my "X-Ray" vision works nicely. Sometimes, not. They paid me a tidy sum per board foot to do my best to save as much of the length as possible. That requires meticulousness on the stump to achieve at times - because this tree needed to go in a certain place while not terrorizing to many of the small leave trees where the top was going to hit. Also, there were old stumps in the "hit zone". One large example was just left of the butt where it stopped sliding. In the initial tree survey from the road, we noticed a large contingency of big & long dead branches. The bear kill limbs are generally uber tough since they are "kiln dried" as the top slowly dies. And,,, these were 3 & 4" in diameter with a wing span of ~ 30'. They are a consideration when sizing up the shot. In the end, this tree netted around 100' in length of merchantable wood that was headed to the mill not long after this video was filmed. The price per thousand delivered to the mill was at an all time historical high as far as I know. This tree scaled up nicely in the end - somewhere around 3000 B.F. Scribner. The 572xp does "purdy" good with 110 drivers of .375 pitch chain. I do like it's performance with this length of bar better than with a Stihl® ms462c-m. It's far better balanced with that length of bar too. In the end, it seemed that the "King Pin" (Mr. Sargent) was well pleased with the felling process and result. I'm currently available for custom saw modifications. Please shoot me an email if you are interested. [email protected]
