頭痛や倦怠感、めまい…潜在患者1000万人超の「気象病」に注意 春から6月に急増する理由【Nスタ解説】|TBS NEWS DIG
After a period of scorching summer-like heat, Tokyo has suddenly become chilly, with daytime temperatures around 15°C. This sudden temperature change may be causing some people to feel unwell… Perhaps it's a case of "weather-related illness." ■ Over 10 million potential patients: What is "weather-related illness," the health problem at this time of year? Anchor Maiko Hibi: "Weather-related illness" is said to be caused by changes in weather. We spoke with Dr. Jun Sato, professor at Chubu University and Aichi Medical University, who established Japan's first "weather-related illness outpatient clinic." Weather-related illness refers to "physical and mental discomfort caused by changes in weather such as temperature, atmospheric pressure, and humidity," and can worsen chronic pain (migraines, dizziness, asthma, heart disease, etc.). According to Dr. Sato, there are two main reasons why people feel unwell due to weather changes: "changes in atmospheric pressure" and "temperature fluctuations." [Changes in atmospheric pressure] The inner ear, located deep within the ear, senses changes in atmospheric pressure. →This information is transmitted to the brain, disrupting the autonomic nervous system. Main symptoms: "Headache," "Dizziness," "Diarrhea," etc. [Temperature fluctuations] When the temperature difference exceeds 7°C, the autonomic nervous system overworks to maintain a constant body temperature. Main symptoms: "Stiff shoulders," "Fatigue," "Mental health problems," etc. According to Dr. Sato, it is said that there are over 10 million potential patients suffering from weather-related illnesses. Dr. Sato's patients range in age from 5 to 93 years old, and approximately 80% are women complaining of headaches and other symptoms. Furthermore, in recent years, temperatures have often changed rapidly, especially from spring to June, and the body may not be able to adapt. Low pressure systems during the rainy season also play a role. ■Improve blood circulation! Prevent weather-related illnesses with ear massage We asked Dr. Sato about measures that can be taken in between daily activities. 【How to Prevent Weather-Related Illnesses?】 ● Bask in the morning sun ● Sweat (lukewarm bath, exercise) ● Improve blood circulation (avoid staying in the same position for long periods) 【Just 1 Minute! Ear Massage】 ● Pinch both ears and pull them up, down, and sideways for 5 seconds each ● While pulling your ears sideways, rotate them backward (5 times) ● Fold your ears over as if wrapping them and hold for 5 seconds ● Cover your entire ears with your palms and rotate them backward (5 times) It is recommended to do this three times a day, in the morning, noon, and evening. ■ Like the Rainy Season: Summer Days Return from the 25th Masamitsu Morita, Weather Forecaster: Here's the temperature forecast for the coming days. On the 22nd, Tokyo experienced temperatures similar to those around cherry blossom season, but the maximum temperature on the 24th was 24℃, which is about average. After that, temperatures are expected to become like summer days from the 25th onwards. Hibi (caster): When the temperature difference is 7°C or more, you are more likely to experience health problems due to weather-related illnesses, so please be careful. ============= Profile Shinsuke Tsutsumi Former editor-in-chief of the international information magazine "Foresight" News commentator for BS-TBS "Hodo 1930" ▼TBS NEWS DIG Official Website https://newsdig.tbs.co.jp/ ▼Subscribe to the channel [Easier to find the latest news] / @tbsnewsdig ▼NEWS DIG Latest News [Important] [Information Made Closer to You] https://www.google.com/preferences/so... ▼Submit Information Here: "TBS Insiders" https://www.tbs.co.jp/news_sp/tbs-ins... ▼Submit Videos Here: "TBS Scoop Submission" https://www.tbs.co.jp/news_sp/toukou.... #news #TBS #newsdig
