Traditional Sambar Powder
This video shows the procedure for making the traditional style of Sambar Powder.The ingredients are sun dried and then ground in a mill to a fine powder. for those who don't have access to mill, they can be lightly dry roasted and ground in a blender at home. This should then be sieved to get a fine powder. Ingredients(traditional) Dry red Chilli 1/2 kg Coriander seeds 3/4 kg Thuvar dal 300 gm channa dal 150 gm Black pepper 100 gm methi seeds 50 gm Turmeric sticks 25 gm For grinding in mixer at home Dry red chilli 3cups Coriander seeds 2 cups Tuvar dal 1/2 cup Channa dal 1/8 cup Black pepper 1 Tbsp Methi seeds 1 Tsp Turmeric powder
