SolGold shines US$750M with gold royalty

Ecuador copper and gold developer SolGold has entered into a US$750 million gold stream agreement with Franco-Nevada and Osisko Gold Royalties in exchange for 20% of the gold to be produced from its Cascabel copper-gold project, later to reduce to 12%, CEO Scott Caldwell told Kitco Mining. SolGold has received the first tranche of an initial $100 million to fund project de-risking activities, permitting the completion of the development funding package and a feasibility study to take it to a final development investment decision. This is expected to take about 24 months to complete. The remaining $650 million will be a construction deposit to help fund its development. Franco will provide 70% of the funds and Osisko 30%. SolGold estimates the development of Cascabel will require $1.55 billion in capital. In February, SolGold issued a prefeasibility study that detailed a four-year development to produce 123,000tpy of copper, 277,000oz/y of gold and 794,000oz/y of silver for an initial 28-year mine life. 00:00 Introduction and Welcome 00:15 Details of the $750 Million Financing 01:26 Impact of Gold Stream on Project Economics 02:27 Utilization of Funds and Permitting Process 04:08 Community Support and Political Landscape 05:48 Social Investments by Franco and Osisko 06:36 Due Diligence and Financial Validation 08:06 Future Financing and Strategic Partnerships 09:20 Copper Market Dynamics and Project Incentives 11:52 Year-End Catalysts and Future Outlook __________________________________________________________________ Kitco Mining is dedicated to reporting on the mining industry.
