Splendid Isolation with Fiachna Ó Mongáin

Welcome to the latest edition in our Splendid Isolation series with Bosca Ceoil maestro, Fiachna Ó Mongáin. Fiachna was influenced from a very young age by some of the greats in traditional music along with his family and the local community of Erris, County Mayo. Here he shares some insight into his practice and performs a piece especially for us. This series involves interviews with various artists and performers looking at how they are surviving (or thriving!) during the COVID-19 crisis and how their artform has been affected. The series initially started off with artists who had a show/performance rescheduled at the Linenhall as a result of the 2020 lockdown. After a call out on social media asking the Mayo community to suggest or volunteer an artist they would like to hear from during lockdown, the series now has a focus on Mayo artists.
