The Brose Walsh Showband celebrate 86 years
The legendary Brose Walsh are Ireland’s longest established dance bands with an unbroken family tradition stretching back over eight decades and three generations. Having played hundreds of gigs over 86 years all over the world, they are synonymous with the dance band and showband eras in Ireland and are of great cultural significance to Co Mayo. To celebrate the contribution to music Brose and the succeeding members of the band have made, the Brose Walsh band performed on the Linenhall Theatre stage with two exclusive concerts on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 September 2023. The evening included a drinks reception and the premiere of this short documentary film which tells the story of the band and how these Mayo musicians shaped and contributed to the showband era in Ireland and abroad. Funding from Creative Ireland Mayo for this documentary film is gratefully acknowledged.
