Murrow Award — Excellence in Innovation • 2025 Lonestar Emmy Award — Public Affairs Program • American Legion Fourth Estate Award Role: Investigative Photojournalist & Editor A Hanging on Backbone Creek is a nationally recognized, multi-platform investigative documentary series that reexamines the 1965 death of Daynon Lewis and explores longstanding questions surrounding a case that remained unresolved for nearly six decades. As the lead investigative photojournalist and editor, I led the visual production and editorial execution of the project, overseeing documentary cinematography, interview production, lighting design, field storytelling, and long-form post-production editing. Working closely with reporters and producers, I helped transform extensive investigative research, historical records, death-inquest documents, and sensitive interviews into a compelling visual narrative that balanced journalistic rigor with cinematic storytelling. Through immersive visuals and character-driven documentary techniques, the series examined not only the circumstances surrounding Lewis' death but also broader concerns about Texas' antiquated death investigation system and its impact on families seeking answers. Distributed across documentary, digital, podcast, and broadcast platforms, the project created an immersive audience experience, brought renewed public attention to a decades-old case, and demonstrated the power of investigative journalism told through visual storytelling. link to website: https://www.kxan.com/backbone-creek/ #TrueCrimeCommunity#ColdCase#UnsolvedMysteries#TrueCrimeDoc#TrueCrimeDocumentary#TexasHistory#TexasNews#MarbleFalls#AustinTexas#Journalism#Photojournalism#IndieDoc#DocumentarySeries#LoneStarEmmy#MurrowAward#AwardWinningDoc#EmmyWinner
