For a full day, I discovered legendary flavors hidden in the bazaar's side streets. I both traced the local flavors and felt Kemeraltı's incredible energy to my core. I started my tour with enjoying Gevrek and Boyoz on the street. Enjoying the iconic gevrek and boyoz of Izmir, fresh and hot, was a fantastic start to the day. Afterwards, I stopped by Osman Usta Antalya Börekçisi; I continued my energy boost with wonderful pastries made with thin dough, fresh ingredients, and masterful craftsmanship. While walking through the side streets of Kemeraltı, I came across Elgani Ezmecizade. The ezme (a type of Turkish spread) made by a master who keeps the traditional sweet culture alive was truly unforgettable. Then I headed to Meşhur Hisar Söğüş. With every bite, I understood even better why söğüş is a culture in Izmir. Another classic stop was Hisarönü Tantuni. Located in the middle of the bazaar, this spot, with its wonderful tantuni aroma, offered a delicious snack. I satisfied my sweet tooth at Kadim Aşura. Very few places make traditional aşure (a type of Turkish dessert) this well! Later in the day, to refresh my energy, I stopped by Kumrucu Sado. Tasting the authentic version of İzmir kumru here was a great pleasure. I finished the tour at Balıkçı Kız (Fisherman's Girl) with a sea breeze. Fresh fish, a light flavor, and a pleasant ending… It was like a beautiful summary of the day.
