Jubilee Line Extension, Part 2: Westminster Station

Part 1 - Southwark Station:    • Jubilee Line Extension, Part 1: Southwark ...   Part 3 - Canary Wharf Station:    • Jubilee Line Extension, Part 3: Canary Wha...   This is the second part of my series on the Jubilee Line extension, showing Westminster station. Designed by Michael Hopkins & Partners and winning numerous awards, this station is one of the most impressive on the London Underground. It features a 39-meter deep void around the escalators and stairs, which connect the subsurface station (District & Circle Lines) with those of the Jubilee Line. Built from mostly concrete and stainless steel supported by massive cross-bracing structures, wich are dramatically lit, this station feels like being inside the Death Star. The west and eastbound platforms of the Jubilee Line are stacked on top of each other, with the District and Circle Line platforms at the very top. Enjoy!
