Here is an original bangla song written by Arko, the tune being an adaptation from an Irish folk song Fields of Athenry. The song finds it's roots in a famine protest ballad in the 1880's written about the famines and the protests of the 1840's. Set during the Great Famine of the 1840s, the lyrics feature a fictional man from near Athenry in County Galway, who stole food for his starving family and has been sentenced to transportation to the Australian penal colony at Botany Bay. The song is written/curated in 1979 by Pete St. John in the style of an Irish folk ballad. The Bangla song was written by Arko in Berlin in July 2019 by Arko, and recorded as a spontaneous live jam during this shoot. The video is shot and edited by my dear brother Amit Biswas.
