Why Everything Feels Boring After Chronic Stress
Have you ever had a free afternoon...and couldn't think of a single thing you actually wanted to do? Maybe you've found yourself saying: "Nothing sounds fun anymore." "I don't enjoy things the way I used to." "I'm just...bored." But what if boredom isn't the real problem? In this video, I share two personal experiences that completely changed the way I think about boredom, chronic stress, and the brain. One happened while I was completing an advanced mindfulness and meditation teacher certification. The other happened after I got sober more than 35 years ago. Together, they taught me an important lesson: Sometimes the most important thing that changes isn't your life. It's your brain's ability to experience it. We'll explore: ✔ Why chronic Executive Stress changes the brain's reward system ✔ The neuroscience of anticipation and why your brain is always looking for "what comes next" ✔ What anhedonia is and why ordinary life can suddenly feel flat ✔ Why boredom is often a symptom—not the problem itself ✔ How alcohol, burnout, trauma, and chronic stress condition the nervous system ✔ Why your brain can learn to enjoy ordinary life again Whether you're an executive, business owner, healthcare professional, first responder, or simply someone who feels emotionally exhausted, this conversation may help you understand why life sometimes feels surprisingly "meh"—and why that doesn't mean you're broken. Because meaningful change isn't about trying harder. It's about understanding how your brain adapted...and helping it adapt again. 🔹 Ready to go deeper?
