Meeting with reporters at the National Assembly on the 5th, Rep. Yoon stated, "I confirmed that the ballot boxes and ballots currently being stored at the Olympic Handball Stadium remain exactly as they are," adding, "Ballots must be preserved for the duration of the elected official's term." He further explained, "Although storage space has been prepared at the Songpa District Election Commission, the ballots cannot currently be moved, and the cost of renting the stadium alone amounts to approximately 200 million won until July 10." Rep. Yoon stated, "Given this situation, I proposed to the NEC that the 2.47 million ballots be publicly re-verified so that the Commission can directly demonstrate that there were no problems in the voting and counting process." He also stated, "The National Election Commission has expressed its position that it will agree to a public verification if the Special Committee on State Affairs Investigation resolves to conduct one through an agreement between the ruling and opposition parties," and argued, "Since the cost of a recount is estimated at approximately 50 million won, it is more desirable to conduct a single, accurate public verification rather than continuing to bear the rental costs."
