I Thought I Saved Ms. Shirley... I Was Wrong

Ms. Shirley had already been through more than any young heifer should. A few months ago, I found her with her head trapped between two trees and was able to get her free. This time, I returned to the ranch and found her down again, with both rear legs caught beneath several branches. I worked to free her, treated her and stayed with her while she tried to get back on her feet. During all of this, my side-by-side overheated again, so I had to bring the tractor into the woods and pull it out. When I left the ranch that evening, Ms. Shirley was free, she had been treated and I still had hope that she might recover. I returned the next day and learned that she had passed away. This was not the ending I wanted for Ms. Shirley, but caring for livestock sometimes means doing everything you can and still losing an animal. I appreciate everyone who followed her story and showed concern for her along the way. Subscribe to the channel. In the next episode, I’ll check on the weaned calves and give y’all an update on how they’re doing.
