Traveling alone on the Camino de Santiago often feels doubly upsetting to me: liberating and burdensome at the same time. I enjoy the peace and quiet, but simultaneously feel an inner distance that prevents me from letting people get close to me. On the Mosel Camino, I realize once again how much this tension accompanies me – the desire for closeness and the fear of it. But this path surprises me. I meet loving, open people, and one encounter completely changes my day: Lale. A student who studies the exact same subjects as me, wants to pursue the same career path, and with whom I immediately feel a special ease. We spend the rest of the day together, talking, laughing, sharing thoughts – and yet, this inner voice keeps stirring, trying to warn me, to hold me back. In this video, I narrate in voice-over, without music, just my voice and the sounds of the path. A story about trust, about closeness, and about the courage to ignore that inner barrier, just once.
