Mature Sambar stag showing its dominance over other stags. 2nd June 2026

The Sambar stags are starting to show their dominance now whenever a hind is nearby. I first spotted the hind walking through into a lightly treed area that I had to fly up and over, by the time I got to the other side it was with a spiky and a malformed stag. You see the hind chase off the spiky and then the malformed stag headed in the same direction. At the time I hadn't seen the larger more mature stag, but it soon became evident that he didn't want either of them around. Once he thought they were far enough away, the mature stag returned to the hind.
