First Test Cutting After a Year - How Rusty am I?

Finally an opportunity for blade testing... It has been difficult to arrange that in the past year. Buliang short Tang dao by Yomikuni [update: The brand Yomikuni doesn't seem to exist anymore, or at least their website is gone, and I can't find them anywhere.] Khopesh-like custom polearm (sickle staff?) based on Sly Cooper's cane    • The Sly Cooper Khopesh - How Practical Is It?   Tatami mats and other targets for cutting practice: https://www.kultofathena.com/product-... The Tang dao turned out to be too dull for clean cuts. It can go through the mats with extra force, but even with good alignment the result is not pretty. On the upside the thickness and grind makes it strong and highly damage resistant. The kriegsmesser performed exactly how I expected from looking at the blade geometry, slicing through the mats flawlessly. Handles beautifully too. And what a surprise the fantasy polearm was... The handling is a bit weird due to the unusual balance, but the cutting performance is amazing.
