As night fell, Zojila Pass trapped us in a massive, freezing gridlock for 5 hours. With the clock hitting 11 PM and my daughter Pihu falling sick, pushing to Kargil was no longer safe. We had to pivot fast and make an emergency stop at Matayan—a historic village from the Kargil War.
