This light suppresses the production of melatonin, the hormone responsible for regulating the circadian rhythm and inducing sleep. Exposure to blue light, especially at night, can delay sleep onset, reduce sleep quality, and shorten overall sleep time. However, recent research suggests that the impact of blue light on sleep may not be as severe as previously thought.
