Life on the bog - Carrownagappul Bog
Carrownagappul Bog, near Mountbellew in County Galway is one of the largest remaining raised bogs in the country. It is the focus of restoration works through the Living Bog Project and the efforts of the local community through Galway Telework Co-Op to improve the condition of the bog and to increase awareness of its importance. This video showcases some of these efforts and the flora and fauna that lives and depends on the bog as well as the many other ecosystem services it provides. This video was produced by BirdWatch Ireland and Galway County Council as an action of the Galway County Heritage and Biodiversity Plan 2017 - 2022, with funding provided through the National Biodiversity Action Plan through the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, and Galway County Council. Featuring John Lusby of BirdWatch Ireland and Ronan Casey of the Living Bog Project and filmed and edited by Peter Cutler of CrowCrag, with additional footage provided by Crossing the Line.
