I Added a Bearing to My Drum Sander for Drill Press. Why? | XDIY

It's a MUST! I Improved my Drum Sander for the drill press and added A Bearing... About 2 years ago, I published a video about a DIY drum sander that I made for drill press, with a quick sandpaper replacement and without using glue, but this drum sander wasn’t perfect. Why is it needed? It’s important to know this information, because using a drum sander on a drill press can cause damage over time. The drill press mechanism is designed for vertical axial loading. Side loading, like pushing a work piece against the drum sander, from the side of the chuck shaft, can cause quill wear out and might loosen the chuck over time. The bearing support helps keeping the drum sander straight and stable and prevent pressure from the side. Besides adding the bearing, I made a drill press table with a hole, so it will hold the bearing in place. The drill press table has also a fence for better accuracy and safer drilling.
