The initial step in this long and difficult process is a review of the diagnosis, based on the clinical history and the evolutionary process that led the patient to need hemodialysis. Unfortunately, the vast majority of these patients have irreversible kidney failure and will only be able to get off treatment with a kidney transplant. The idea behind this video is not to create false hope, but to raise awareness about possible positive developments in kidney function, especially in patients who have been on dialysis for a short time and who did not have nephrological follow-up before starting dialysis. Despite its exceptional nature, it is not a rare phenomenon, and it is possible that a few hemodialysis patients are undergoing or have already undergone a process of kidney function recovery, even if only partially.
