Academician Evgeny Aleksandrovich Kuznetsov, chief researcher at the Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, talks about this. Evgeny Aleksandrovich Kuznetsov is a theoretical physicist, specialist in the physics of nonlinear phenomena and its applications, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, chief researcher in the mathematical physics sector at the Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He was born on May 14, 1947 in Frunze. In 1973, he defended his PhD thesis "Some Issues in the Dynamics and Kinetics of Nonlinear Waves in Plasma", and in 1980, his doctoral thesis "Stability of Nonlinear Waves and the Problem of Turbulence". One of the creators of the theory of wave collapses. He discovered the phase-gradient mechanism of spike formation, which has important applications in convection problems and the generation of short pulses in lasers. He is the author of more than 200 scientific papers, including two monographs and two textbooks. He is the deputy chairman of the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on nonlinear dynamics. He is a laureate of the L. I. Mandelstam Prize of the Russian Academy of Sciences for the series of works "Wave collapses in plasma, optics and hydrodynamics".
